£540,000 ANPR Contract Win
Appian Technology plc, the AIM listed provider of Automatic Number Plate
Recognition systems ('ANPR') and traffic management products and solutions, has won a
£540,000 contract with a major national police force in the UK to install a new ANPR
system. This new system will be capable of processing in excess of 20 million vehicle
license plates a day, providing the police and other security agencies with vital
intelligence to help fight against serious and organised crime. Importantly, this is the
first phase of a larger two phase contract, which is expected to be completed within 12
months.
The Company will be replacing an existing ANPR system with over 200 of its new,
high performance Cobra ANPR cameras at strategic sites and police stations. It will also
be supplying its Talon ANPR software, which will be used for number plate recognition
processing. All plate data will be transmitted to a central point and collated.
Appian Chairman Pat Ryan said, "This was a highly competitive bid process,
which we won as a direct result of our experience and market leadership in large scale
national ANPR surveillance systems. In addition, our Talon ANPR software and recently
developed Cobra cameras were demonstrably better than competing solutions. Finally, a
critical factor in this contract win was customer visits to a number of Appian's existing
UK Police customers, where we were highly recommended and had glowing commendations!"
