Aurum Mining Plc is engaged in investing in gold exploration and mining projects in the Former Soviet Union. In January 2005, it acquired Andash Mining Ltd (Andash). The Andash gold and copper project is in the Talas Valley, northwest of the Kyrgyz Republic on the border with Kazakhstan. The project is situated in the Tien Shan gold belt, which stretches across Central Asia from Uzbekistan in the west through to China in the east. The license area is at an elevation of between 2,100 meters and 2,400 meters. Zone 1 of the project contains 624,000 ounces of gold and 72,000 tons of copper in a porphyry style orebody. The exploration license covers an area of 53 square kilometers and is valid until December 2010. Andash has three known mineralized zones and four additional exploration opportunities located within its license area. During the fiscal year ended March 31, 2006, the Company embarked on an exploration program to test the extent of Zones 2 and 3, which lie to the west of Zone 1. |
